British Columbia invited over 240 skilled candidates under the new BC PNP draws on February 22, 2023, the Government of British Columbia issued new invitations under the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) and invited qualified Skills, and Immigration candidates. In the general draw, the province invited 203 candidates. The minimum score for candidates invited to this draw was 85-103 points. 

The province issued 18 ITAs to candidates under the childcare-targeted draw for early childhood educators (NOC 42202). In the Healthcare-targeted draw, BC invited 20 candidates who scored 60 points. Additionally, fewer than five invitations have been issued for other priority occupations (NOCs 31103, 32104). 

In total, the province invited up to 246 candidates for this draw. This year, British Columbia has already issued 1,850 invitations.

What is the BC Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP)? 

The Immigration Programs department in the Government of British Columbia administers the BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP), an economic immigration program.

The province may select and nominate foreign workers, students, and entrepreneurs through the program in order to promote government initiatives, fill labor market shortages, and expand the province’s economy.

 

Skilled Worker stream British Columbia 

The expanding economy of British Columbia requires educated and skilled professionals. Workers in professional, management, technical, trade, or other skilled occupations can get permanent residency in British Columbia through the Skilled Worker stream.

 

Eligibility requirements for Skilled Worker stream in British Columbia

To qualify for the Skilled Worker stream, you must:

  • You must have accepted a full-time, indefinite work offer from a B.C. company (the offer cannot be temporary or have a set end date)
  •  A skilled occupation (NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3) must be the type of work being done.
  • be capable of carrying out the job’s responsibilities.
  • possess at least two years of full-time work experience (or work experience equivalent to full-time) in any skilled occupation (NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3).
  • prove your ability to care for yourself and your dependents.
  • possess legal immigration status in Canada, or be eligible to do so.
  • Meet the minimum language requirements for NOC TEER 2 or 3 occupations.
  • a pay offer that is in line with the occupation’s salary rates in British Columbia.
