A single asterisk indicates a country where Canadian passport holders can get a visa upon arrival, usually at an airport or other point of entry.
A country marked with two asterisks indicates that, although not needing a visa, holders of Canadian passports must have an electronic travel authorization (eTA) in order to enter. For up to five years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first, an eTA is electronically linked to the passport and is valid.
How long does it take to get a new or renewed passport in Canada?
In Canada, it takes approximately 20 business days for the Canadian passport to be processed. You may be eligible to renew your adult passport if you currently have one. It is easier to renew a passport than to apply for a new one. This is due to the fact that you do not require:

- proof of Canadian citizenship.
- supporting identification.
