On June 20, 2023, British Columbia held new draws for business candidates in the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) through the entrepreneur draws. BCPNP invited up to five candidates in the Base Category of the Entrepreneur Stream. The lowest score of this round was 119 points, four points more than it was in the previous draw.
In addition, the province invited fewer than five candidates in the Entrepreneur Immigration – Regional Pilot category with a minimum score of 152. The maximum points in the Entrepreneur Stream grid are 200. Candidates can get 120 points for self-declared factors such as Experience & Ownership, Net Worth, Investment, etc. Another 80 points are given for the business concept.
British Columbia issued 5,125 invitations this year, including up to 54 entrepreneurs.
BC PNP Entrepreneur Immigration
Entrepreneur Immigration (EI) is a process for foreign entrepreneurs who want to immigrate to British Columbia (B.C.) to establish businesses that promote innovation and economic growth in the province. This program is part of the BC Provincial Nominee Programme (BC PNP).
A “temporary to permanent” immigration route is entrepreneur immigration. In general, if you’re accepted, you’ll initially arrive in British Columbia as a temporary resident and then apply to stay permanently once you’ve set up a business.
BC PNP Entrepreneur Immigration has three streams:
- Base stream
- Regional Pilot
- Strategic Projects
What are the eligibility criteria for the Base Category of the Entrepreneur Stream?
To be eligible for the Base category of the entrepreneur stream candidates must required to meet these eligibility requirements;
- an individual with a minimum CAD $600,000 net worth
- If you don’t have any business experience, you have to have the equivalent of a two-year post-secondary diploma
- basic language proficiency in either English or French, at least at Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 4
- having lawfully entered the country where you are presently residing
- have legal immigration status in Canada, or be eligible for doing so
