Sudbury considered 24 applications under the RNIP

On February 23, 2023, the City of Greater Sudbury held a new round of invitations for the RNIP. In this round, Sudbury considered 25 candidates. The lowest score of these draws was 245 points, five points fewer than in the previous draw.

All applicants had one eligible occupation and a wage over $20 per hour. Last year, in total, 154 applicants were invited. Sudbury has recommended at least 249 individuals under the RNIP since the program’s launch. So far, the city considered 49 candidates in 2023.

Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP)

A community-driven program, the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP). By providing a route to permanent residence for qualified foreign workers who desire to work and live in one of the participating villages, the pilot is intended to bring the advantages of economic immigration to smaller areas.

You may also be qualified for a one-year work visa if you have submitted an application for permanent residence under the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot. While your application for permanent residency is being processed, you may work with a work permit.

What are participating communities in the RNIP?

The following communities are currently participating in the Rural & Northern Immigration Pilot:

  • North Bay, Ontario
  • Sudbury, Ontario
