Scott Moe, the premier of Saskatchewan, wants to persuade the Canadian government to increase the number of people who move to the province from 6,000 to 13,000.
To do this, he turned to the business community in Saskatchewan for help with a request from the Canadian authorities for a new immigration agreement between Canada and Saskatchewan.
Like most officials in Saskatchewan, Moe believes the province needs more autonomy in the immigration process to meet economic needs and address labor shortages. By 2030, the province plans to create another 100,000 jobs.
The provincial government aims to make the SINP the primary source of immigrants, increasing Saskatchewan’s population to 1.4 million by 2030.

According to Jeremy Harrison, Saskatchewan’s minister of immigration and professional training, “Saskatchewan requires more autonomy and flexibility over immigration in order to meet its economic demands and fix shortages in the labor market.”
According to Premier Scott Moe, Saskatchewan should play “a stronger part in the selection and the criteria in our immigration program” in December 2019.
He wants the same agreement that Quebec had at the time, which Premier Scott Moe repeated this week.
“When it comes to immigration, Quebec and the federal government have completely different agreements than Saskatchewan has.” “We need that agreement,” Premier Moe said.
“We aren’t running out of work.” “We are lacking in manpower,” he stated.
“Saskatchewan is your spot if you want not only sustainable products but also a sustainable supply chain.”
