The Government of British Columbia has once again demonstrated its commitment to attracting top talent by conducting recent BC PNP draws on June 18, 2024. These draws focused on inviting qualified candidates across several key sectors, including tech, healthcare, childcare, construction, and veterinary care. 

Details of the Recent BC PNP Draws

In total, British Columbia issued up to 75 ITAs in the latest draw. This is part of the province’s continued effort to attract and retain skilled professionals across various sectors critical to its economic and social development. So far in 2024, the province has invited up to 3,456 candidates, reflecting its proactive stance in addressing workforce needs and supporting provincial growth. 

The recent BC PNP draws on June 18, 2024, underscore British Columbia’s strategic focus on inviting skilled professionals in key sectors such as tech, healthcare, childcare, construction, and veterinary care. Details for each sector invitations are given below:

Tech Sector Invitations

In the tech-focused draw, British Columbia extended invitations to 35 candidates. The competition was fierce, with a minimum score requirement of 122 points. This drawing highlights the province’s ongoing effort to bolster its tech industry by bringing in skilled professionals who can contribute to innovation and economic growth.

Childcare Sector Focus

British Columbia also prioritized the childcare sector, issuing ten Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to early childhood educators under the NOC 42202 classification. This targeted draw underscores the province’s recognition of the critical role that childcare professionals play in supporting families and enabling a stable workforce.

Healthcare Sector Opportunities

The healthcare sector saw 14 candidates receive invitations, each with a minimum score of 102 points. This targeted draw aligns with British Columbia’s strategic initiatives to enhance healthcare services across the province, ensuring that residents have access to high-quality medical care.

Construction Sector Draw

In the construction sector, 11 invitations were issued to candidates. This move is part of the province’s broader efforts to support infrastructure development and meet the growing demands of its expanding cities and communities.

Veterinary Care Invitations

Additionally, British Columbia addressed the veterinary care sector’s needs by issuing up to five invitations to qualified candidates. This targeted approach ensures that the province maintains a robust workforce capable of providing essential services to its residents’ pets and livestock.

By setting targeted draws and maintaining high standards for the invitation, British Columbia ensures that it attracts top talent capable of driving innovation and supporting community needs. These initiatives are vital for British Columbia’s sustained economic development and the well-being of its residents. 

Targeted invitations to apply to the Skills Immigration streams may be based on one or more of the following factors:

  • Education: level, field of education and where it was completed
  • Eligible professional designations in B.C.
  • Language skills
  • Occupation
  • Duration and skill level of work experience
  • Wage and/or skill level of job offer
  • Intent to live, work, and settle in a specific region
  • Strategic priorities: factors that address specific labor market needs in BC or support government pilot projects and initiatives
