Prince Edward Island invited the first candidates of 2023 under PEI PNP

On January 19, 2023, Prince Edward Island conducted a new invitation round in the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP). In the first round of this year, the province issued 216 invitations to apply to skilled workers in the Labour Impact and Express Entry streams. 

 

PEI also invited 7 candidates to the Business Work Permit Entrepreneurs stream. The lowest score for business candidates was 62 points, as it was in the December draw. Last year, PEI invited 1,854 candidates. According to the schedule, the next PEI PNP draw will occur on February 16, 2023.

 

Skilled Workers in PEI 

If you are currently employed by an Island employer, you may be eligible to apply for a nomination for permanent residence through the Skilled Worker stream of the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP). 

 

Employers on Prince Edward Island can fill highly skilled positions that are not available on the local job market through the employer-driven Skilled Worker stream.

 

What are Eligibility Criteria For Skilled Workers in PEI? 

For the PEI Skilled Worker Stream, you must meet the following requirements:

  • have a work offer for a high-skilled occupation categorized as TEER category 0, 1, or 3 (link is external) from a PEI employer that is full-time, non-seasonal ;
  • having worked at least two years at a full-time job over the last five years;
  • have a valid work permit to be working in Canada;
  • have legal status in the country of residence;
  • have successfully completed a post‐secondary degree or diploma
  • Must be between the ages of 18 and 59;
  • Have the necessary English/French language ability to perform the job offered.
  • having enough money to cover all immigration costs, including travel expenditures, for the applicant and their family in order to be able to settle in PEI;
  • and demonstrate that you have a genuine desire to settle in PEI.

 

PEI Express Entry 

Through the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program, you can apply for a PEI Express Entry nomination for permanent residence (PEI PNP). You will have a better chance of receiving an Invitation to Apply from the federal government if you are nominated through the PEI PNP.

 

What are Eligibility Criteria For PEI Express Entry? 

You must fulfill the requirements of at least one of the Federal Economic Immigration programs in order to be nominated via PEI Express Entry:

Program for Federally Skilled Workers;

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program;
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program; or
  • Canadian Experience Class

 

Depending on whether you have a work offer in PEI or not, there are two paths to permanent residency under the PEI Express Entry Category. Candidates who reside and/or work in PEI will be prioritized.

 

What is the PEI Work Permit Entrepreneurs stream? 

The Work Permit Stream of the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program may be able to nominate you for permanent residence if you’re thinking about moving there and want to invest in and run a business (PEI PNP). 

 

Foreign nationals with extensive management expertise or business ownership who want to settle in PEI to begin their business and eventually become permanent residents can apply through this stream.

  • If you want to be eligible for nomination under the Work Permit stream, you must:
  • have at minimum the equivalent of secondary education;
  • be between the ages of 21 and 59 at the time of application;
  • have previous job or business ownership experience and applicable management abilities; 
  • have previous job or business ownership experience and applicable management abilities; 
  • Attend a meeting with an immigration office employee.
  • fulfill the requirements of the Performance Agreement that you signed with the Office of Immigration.
