Canada invited 4,250 candidates under the new Express Entry draw

Express Entry

On October 12, 2022, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 4,250 Invitations to Apply (ITA) to candidates under Express Entry. In this round of invitations, no program has been specified. In round #233, the cut-off score was 500 points, 4 points fewer compared to the previous draw. The tie-breaking rule for this round was October 10, 2022, at 17:10:53 UTC. As of October 10, 2022, there are 235,120 profiles registered in the Express Entry pool, 2,303 fewer compared to the previous update. In 2022, Canada issued 32,288 ITAs through Express Entry.

No particular program was the focus of the draw on October 12. This shows that applicants from the Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and Federal Skilled Trades (FSTP) were qualified to receive invitations.

After a pause of more than 18 months, IRCC resumed Express Entry drawings for the federal high-skilled streams on June 6, 2022. On that day, a total of 1,500 Express Entry candidates received invitations from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to submit applications for permanent residence.

What is Express Entry Draw

The Canadian government uses a mechanism called Express Entry to handle applications for permanent residence. The CRS, a point-based methodology, is used by Express Entry to rank candidate profiles. Three key programs are managed by the system:

  • FSW, or the Federal Skilled Worker Program
  • FST, the Federal Skilled Trades Program
  •  Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
