Manitoba Immigration Programs

Manitoba manages its immigration programs through the MPNP (Manitoba Immigration Programs) which aids immigration applications to the Federal Government. Canadian provinces do not have the power to give out permanent residency status, but they can assist with an application by issuing provincial nominations.

If you want to get a nomination for you from Manitoba, you need to register an Expression of Interest (EI) with the MPNP (Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program).  It puts you in a way to receive an LAA (Letters of Advice to Apply) through the Skilled Workers Overseas streams and Skilled Workers in Manitoba.

After then Manitoba ranks candidates out of 1,000 points for their human capital factors as well as their connections to the province.

The SWO (Skilled Workers Overseas) Category and SWM (Skilled Workers in Manitoba) categories are designed to allow the province to recognize candidates who meet its labor market is needed. Candidates overseas need to demonstrate connections to Manitoba through the likes of close family ties, an invitation through one of Manitoba’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives, or previous experience in the province.
