On September 24, 2024, British Columbia conducted its latest draw under the BC PNP, issuing Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to skilled applicants for permanent residence in the province. This draw is part of BC’s plan to attract top talent from various sectors in demand, thereby enhancing labor markets within the province and supporting its economic growth.

Invitations to Apply (ITAs) Highlights

In this recent draw, British Columbia issued up to 150 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) across several key industries, emphasizing the province’s strategic focus on areas experiencing labor shortages:

  1. Technology Sector

Among all sectors in the economy of British Columbia, the tech industry is one of the most notable. There are 57 candidates invited in the current draw, with a minimum score of 117 points. This shows that the province is determined to strengthen the skills of the workforce for businesses here.

  1. Childcare Sector

Given the dire need for early childhood educators, the province issued 42 ITAs specifically targeting this occupation (NOC 42202). Applicants in the draw needed a minimum score of 83 points that would translate the commitment the province was willing to make towards improving childcare services and supporting families.

  1. Healthcare Sector

The demand for healthcare professionals is still immense, and in this draw, 24 ITAs were issued to candidates in healthcare-related occupations with a minimum score of 99 points. This surely cements BC’s efforts to improve access and services in healthcare towards its residents.

  1. Construction Sector

Construction remains the fastest-growing sector in the province, with 22 candidates having experience in this sector. The interested candidates for qualification have to score at least 89 points; hence, more skilled employees are participating in the infrastructural development of the province.

  1. Veterinary Care

As part of the targeted approach for supporting animal care, BC sends up to 5 invitations to candidates in veterinary care occupations. It is an indication of the current recognition by the province that veterinary services are essential for the well-being and health of the public.
