Canada issued 1,000 invitations in the Express Entry transport occupation category draw on September 20, 2023. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held the first-ever round of invitations in the Express Entry system for newcomers with work experience in transport occupations.         

Express Entry draw #264 issued 1,000 Invitations to Apply (ITA) to skilled workers with work experience in the transport sector. 

In this draw, the cut-off score was 435 points. 

The tie-breaking rule for this round was  June 17, 2023, at 06:44:01 UTC. 

As of September 20, 2023, there are 216,035 profiles registered in the Express Entry pool. In 2023, Canada issued 81,948 ITAs through the Express Entry draws.

What are the eligibility requirements for the transport occupations category?

You must meet the following requirements to be eligible:

• Have at least 6 months of full-time, continuous job experience (or an equivalent amount of part-time work experience) in a single occupation specified in the table above within the last 3 years.
• Extensive experience gained in Canada or overseas.
• Complete all of the requirements outlined in the round’s instructions.
• The instructions for each round will provide all eligibility criteria.
• ability to communicate in a specific official language
• Education
• fulfill the Express Entry eligibility requirements, which include being qualified for one of the three immigration programmes covered.

What is the Express Entry category-based selection?

On May 31, 2023, the Government of Canada launched a category-based selection for Express Entry, allowing IRCC to invite prospective candidates for permanent residence with specific skills, training, or language ability.  This year, invitations will focus on candidates with strong French language proficiency or experience in: 

• healthcare, 
• STEM professions, 
• trades, 
• transport, 
• agriculture, and 
• agri-food.
