From November 16, 2023, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) prioritized 25 jobs in the construction sector to support the Homes for People plan, addressing the province’s housing and infrastructure needs for the next five years.
Specifically, workers in selected construction roles with provincial trade qualifications will receive targeted invitations to apply, ensuring immediate contributions to British Columbia’s labor market. Valid qualifications include a certificate from SkilledTradesBC or a SkilledTradesBC-registered apprenticeship. Ministry staff are working with partners through the BCPNP to meet the construction sector’s needs. To be eligible for targeted invitations to apply, construction workers must meet the following criteria:
- The job offer must be for a full-time, indefinite-term position in one of the priority construction occupations.
- You must have a valid trade certificate issued by SkilledTradesBC or an apprenticeship registered with them.

- 22114 Landscape and horticulture technicians and specialists
- 72102 Sheet metal workers
- 72103 Boilermakers
- 72104 Structural metal and platework fabricators and fitters
- 72105 Ironworkers
- 72106 Welders and related machine operators
- 72200 Electricians (except industrial and power system)
- 72201 Industrial electricians
- 72300 Plumbers
- 72301 Steamfitters, pipefitters, and sprinkler system installers
- 72302 Gas fitters
- 72310 Carpenters
- 72311 Cabinetmakers
- 72320 Bricklayers
- 72400 Construction millwrights and industrial mechanics
- 72401 Heavy-duty equipment mechanics
- 72402 Heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning mechanics
- 72500 Crane operators
- 73100 Concrete finishers
- 73101 Tilesetters
- 73102 Plasterers, drywall installers finishers, and lathers
- 73110 Roofers and Shinglers
- 73111 Glaziers
- 73112 Painters and decorators (except interior decorators)
- 73113 Floor covering installers
The occupations listed above are not the only ones that are eligible for the BC PNP. Priority occupations may receive a targeted invitation after enrollment.
