According to the latest data from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), in January 2023, Canada Spousal Sponsorship Immigration sponsorship led to almost twice as many individuals obtaining permanent residency in Canada compared to the same month last year.
In January, Canada saw a significant increase of 90.1% in the number of new permanent residents (10,065) who arrived through spousal sponsorship immigration, compared to the same month in 2022 when only 5,295 newcomers were reunited with their loved ones through this program. This increase is also 126.9% higher than the same month in 2020
The COVID-19 pandemic caused a significant decline in immigration levels in 2020, however, the number of spousal sponsorships in Canada is already almost identical to pre-pandemic levels.
