British Columbia held new BCPNP draws and invited over 170 candidates

BCPNP draws

On October 2, 2024, British Columbia made strong moves to meet labor shortages by issuing more than 170 skilled workers through BCPNP draws under the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program. The new round of invitations forms part of an increased drive to attract some of the key sectors in the province: health care, child care, construction, and veterinary care.

Breakdown of the Latest BCPNP Draws

The province focused on specific general and sectoral draws for eligible candidates. For those who want more details about the specific invitations issued, here are the details:

  • General Draw: BC invites 81 applicants in the general category. The points cut-off for general draw applicants were 110. This category essentially covers a broad spectrum of skilled workers, representing various industries, which the province deems eligible.
  • Childcare Targeted Draw: The province targeted early childhood educators with NOC 42202, issuing 35 ITAs to applicants who scored at least 83 points. For the province to continue its childcare services it needs these professionals as part of a healthy, functioning economy.
  • Healthcare Targeted Draw: With the high demand in health care, British Columbia welcomed 28 experienced healthcare professionals with a minimum score of 99. This is still the hot area because the province continues to seek ways of strengthening its healthcare system.
  • Construction & Veterinary Care Sectors: In this pursuit of further cementing the prosperous construction sector, the province sent out 23 invitations to professionals with experience in construction. The veterinary care sector also saw up to 5 invitations extended to those with skill sets and experience relevant to the growing demand that the province was experiencing for veterinary services.
