IRCC Holds Express Entry New Draw for Skilled Trades Candidates, Issuing 1,800 ITAs

Express Entry New Draw

On October 23, 2024, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, or IRCC, conducted its scheduled Express Entry new draw, but specifically targeted the Skilled Trades nominees, which added another feather to the already ambitious immigration targets set out by Canada. The IRCC issued 1,800 Invitations to Apply to successful applicants in one of the in-demand skilled trades professions within Canada, cut off at a score of 433, three points lower than the previous draw. The current round is the 321st, tied by the rule of March 12, 2024, 14:30:36 UTC, so as not to favor any of the candidates who registered before this date.

Why Canada’s New Express Entry Draw is a Game-Changer for Skilled Trades Professionals?

The Express Entry new draw gives the world’s skilled workers a streamlined avenue to Canadian permanent residency. Skilled trade professionals are becoming increasingly needed in Canada and are targeted through this category-based draw, which particularly targets those with hands-on experience in critical trades such as electricians, plumbers, and welders. In addition to forming part of the nation’s infrastructure, these sectors are also very vital in providing basic services across the country. Skilled Trades candidates being targeted, this is why Canada is set to fill labor gaps that are critically important, thereby making a way for economic growth and community stability to prevail.

What Does the Express Entry New Draw Mean for Skilled Trades Candidates in the Express Entry Pool?

Candidates in the Express Entry pool with a CRS score of 433 or higher have been issued an ITA. They may now apply for permanent residency in Canada. This particular draw promotes strategic benefits to skilled trades people interested in establishing themselves in Canada. For those candidates not chosen in this round, building their CRS scores through potential increases in language proficiency or with more work experience will increase their chances in subsequent rounds. The pool, which held 211,780 active profiles as of October 22, 2024 still presents stiff competition, but draws targeted like this one offer Skilled Trades candidates a golden opportunity.

Why Canada Needs Skilled Trades Workers?

In recent years, the demand in the industry to call on skilled tradespersons in Canada has been huge, mainly to retire an aging workforce and the constant need to develop infrastructure. Given the increasingly significant reliance of construction, manufacturing, and service industries on skilled labor, the Canadian government responded by placing emphasis on such occupations within the framework of the Express Entry system. Skilled trades workers add valuable practical experience, reliability, and work attitude to the Canadian workforce ingredients that are so important in maintaining the country’s economic vigor.

Preparing for a Successful Express Entry Journey

If you are an experienced trades person looking to immigrate to Canada, a complete preparation of your Express Entry profile is a must. Following the recent Express Entry New Draw, here are a few lessons and suggestions to raise the chances of landing in Canada:
