British Columbia invited tech professionals and skilled workers under the BC PNP

On July 3, 2024, the Government of British Columbia conducted new invitation draws under the BC PNP. These draws were aimed at addressing labor shortages in various critical sectors by issuing invitations to qualified candidates in tech, healthcare, childcare, construction, and veterinary care occupations. In total, British Columbia issued up to 77 ITAs in this draw, reflecting the province’s commitment to addressing labor market needs across various essential sectors. So far in 2024, the province has invited up to 3,611 candidates through the BC PNP, demonstrating its proactive approach to immigration and workforce development.

The Details of the latest Draw under the BC PNP

Tech Draw

In the tech-specific draw, British Columbia extended invitations to 36 candidates. These tech professionals needed a minimum score of 122 points to qualify for an invitation. This draw is part of the province’s ongoing efforts to attract highly skilled tech talent to support its growing technology sector.

Childcare Draw

The childcare-targeted draw saw the issuance of 14 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates specializing as early childhood educators (NOC 42202). These candidates met a minimum score requirement of 60 points. The province recognizes the importance of early childhood education and aims to support this sector by bringing in skilled educators.

Healthcare Draw

British Columbia’s healthcare-targeted draw resulted in nine invitations to candidates who scored at least 106 points. This draw focuses on addressing the ongoing demand for healthcare professionals in the province, ensuring that the healthcare system remains robust and well-staffed.

Construction Sector Draw

In the construction sector, 13 candidates received invitations. This sector is crucial for the province’s infrastructure development and maintenance, and the draw aims to fill essential roles with skilled workers.

Veterinary Care Draw

Additionally, the province issued up to five invitations to candidates working in veterinary care occupations. These invitations are part of the province’s efforts to support animal health and welfare by attracting skilled veterinary professionals.
