Over the three weeks, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held new draws in the pools of International Experience Canada (IEC) and sent out over 2500 IEC invitations. From May 26 to May 28, Canada invited 2,657 young foreigners to apply for an IEC open work permit. As of May 26, 19,366 candidates registered in the pool, awaiting the invitation.

In 2023, Canada issued 86,622 ITAs under the IEC Program.
International Experience Canada
A series of programs known as International Experience Canada (IEC) allows young people from participating countries to visit Canada temporarily to live and work there. If a foreign person completes one of the IEC programs successfully, they will be qualified to apply for a work permit in Canada without the need for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). With the acceptance of work permits, IEC permits temporary stay in Canada for a maximum of one year.
IEC work permits are approved using a system of random draws. Not all foreign nationals who demonstrate an interest in the program will be selected. Success chances are based on the quota for each program and country. There are three distinct programs run by the IEC. Interested applicants should confirm the requirements for the various programs even if IEC has general standards. Each program has unique requirements and may lead to a certain kind of work authorization:
- Working Holiday.
- Young Professionals.
- International Co-op Internship.
