Prince Edward Island issued 136 invitations in June 2022

rince Edward Island issued 136 invitations in June 2022

On June 16, 2022, Prince Edward Island conducted a new invitation round in the Prince-Edward-Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP). In the sixth round of the year, the province issued 127 invitations to apply to skilled workers in the Labour Impact and Express Entry streams.

PEI also invited 9 candidates to the Business Work Permit Entrepreneurs stream. The lowest score for business candidates was 65 points, 3 points more than it was in the May draw. This year, PEI invited 826 candidates. The next PEI PNP draw is scheduled for July 21, 2022.

PEI PNP Express Entry Category

Immigrants who wish to apply for provincial nomination under the PEI Express Entry Category must also be eligible for the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), or the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Candidates with Express Entry (EE) profiles must create an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with the PEI PNP. An EOI profile announces to the provincial government that you wish to be considered for nomination. It also provides candidates with a score based on a provincial points grid. The highest-scoring candidates are assumed to receive an invitation to apply in the monthly draw.

The candidates invited were issued to:

  • Labor Impact and Express Entry stream
  • Business Impact stream

PEI Labor Impact Category

1) Skilled Worker Stream

This employer-driven stream allows skilled workers with an employment offer in PEI to be nominated for Canadian Permanent residence if they meet the following criteria:

  • A full-time employment offer from a Prince Edward Island business in an occupation classified as skill level “0”, “A” or “B” of the National Occupational Classification (NOC);
  • Completion of post-secondary education, with a minimum of 14 years of formal education;
  • Between 21 and 55 years of age;
  • At least 2 years of full-time work experience in the past 5 years;
  • Sufficient proficiency in English or French to occupy the employment offered;
  • Sufficient settlement funds;
  • Demonstrated intention to settle in PEI

2) Critical Worker Stream

The critical Worker Stream category is developed to resolve labor shortages and is open to foreign workers already in PEI with employment in specific critical demand occupations. The primary criteria for nomination are:

A full-time offer of employment from a PEI business in one of the following occupations:

  • Customer service representative;
  • Truck driver;
  • Laborer;
  • Food & beverage server;
  • Housekeeping attendant.
  • 6 months of work experience with the PEI business offering employment;
  • Current valid Canadian work permit;
  • High school diploma and minimum of 12 years of formal education;
  • Between 21 and 55 years of age;
  • At least 2 years of full-time work experience in the past 5 years;
  • Demonstrate basic proficiency in English or French language;
  • Sufficient settlement funds;
  • Demonstrated intention to settle in PEI.

3. International Graduate stream

IGS stream is for recent graduates from recognized accredited PEI-designated learning institutions (e.g., universities and colleges). Qualified applicants will work in a skilled profession in their field of study.

Business Impact Category

This Business Impact category is for eligible candidates who wish to establish, own, and operate a business in Prince Edward Island.

To receive an invitation under PEI’s Business Impact Category, you have to apply under the Work Permit Stream. For this pathway, candidates are anticipated to begin working in Canada and learn about the business while on a work permit. Once the entrepreneur meets PEI’s criteria while on a work permit, they may be eligible to receive a provincial nomination in support of a permanent residence application to IRCC.
