Alberta updated the AAIP inventory

Alberta updated the AAIP inventory

Alberta updated the AAIP inventory on February 14, 2023, Alberta published the update considering the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) inventory. According to the new update, there were around 1,310 Alberta Opportunity Stream applications and 430 Expressions of Interest in the Alberta Express Entry pool.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) allocated a quota of 6,500 nominations to Alberta in 2022 under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), and the AAIP issued all 6,500 certificates last year. For 2023, IRCC has not still announced nomination allocations for the AAIP. This year, Alberta invited 200 candidates.

AAIP Applications volumes and processing

The following are the main factors taken into consideration when processing AAIP applications:

  • application excellence (completeness, eligibility, outdated application information or documents).
  • applications received in volume.
  • the day the application was submitted.
  • strategic priorities informed by information on the labor market and the economy’s growth.
  • the number of nomination certificates remaining for the year.

Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP)

An economic immigration program called the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), formerly known as the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program, selects candidates for Alberta permanent residence. Candidates must have the necessary skills to fill open positions in Alberta or have plans to buy or launch a business there. Additionally, they must be able to support their families. The Canadian and Albertan governments administer the program.

You, your spouse or common-law partner, and any dependent children may apply for permanent residence status if you are nominated under the program.

What are AAIP Streams for workers?

Streams for workers in Alberta under AAIP are:

  • Alberta Opportunity Stream
  • Alberta Express Entry Stream
  • Rural Renewal Stream

What is Alberta Opportunity Stream?

Temporary overseas workers who are already employed full-time in Alberta and have a full-time job offer from an Alberta employer in a qualifying occupation are eligible for the Alberta Opportunity Stream. Candidates must either hold a valid LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) exemption work permit or have an accepted LMIA result. Additionally, candidates must satisfy minimum qualifying requirements for the type of residency and work permit, occupation, language, education, employment offer from Alberta, and work experience.
