Over the three weeks, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held new IEC draws in the pools of International Experience Canada (IEC). From May 6 to May 12, Canada invited 4,880 young foreigners to apply for an IEC open work permit. As of May 12, there were 20,421 candidates registered in the pool, waiting for the invitation.

In 2023, Canada issued 82,651 ITAs under the IEC Program.

International Experience Canada

A number of programs known as International Experience Canada (IEC) enable young people from participating countries to come to Canada temporarily to live and work abroad. If a foreign person accomplishes one of the IEC programs effectively, they will be eligible for applying for a work permit in Canada without the need for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). With the approval of work permits, IEC permits temporary stay in Canada for a maximum of one year.
